Water tank ROZKOS
The ROZKOŠ reservoir is one of the largest bodies of water and the best places for yachting in the Czech Republic.
The purpose of the dam is flood protection, improvement of the flow of the Elbe, recreation, water sports and fish farming for sports and commercial use. It performs a protective function in relation to the Úpa River, which flows into the Elbe. Rozkoš is a stopover for migratory birds, and sport fishing is carried out here.
The maximum area of the water surface is 1001.3 hectares. The total volume of the reservoir is 76.154 million m3.
The main outlet dam is 412.5 meters long at the crown and has a 6-meter wide asphalt road running along it, the crown itself is 8.5 meters wide and its height above the foundation is 26.4 meters. Interestingly, the dam does not have a safety spillway, its function is performed by the impoundment in Zlíč.
The reservoir itself is divided into two parts by the so-called Rovenská dam. The dam is 1.7 kilometers long and on the western side near Spyta it is equipped with a 200-meter concrete spillway.
The reservoir is fed by the Rozkoší, Rovenský potok and the feeder from Úpa. The feeder from Úpa is 2.34 kilometers long.
The construction of the dam began in 1951, but construction was suspended the following year. Work that had begun continued from 1964 and the dam was completed in 1969. The Úpa inlet was completed in 1972.
The dam is managed by the Elbe River Basin Authority.
